CARDIGAN’S new Christmas lights have helped lift some of the Covid-19 gloom. The new display – with a large tree outside the Guildhall - was officially turned on by town Mayor Cllr Clive Davies at the weekend, marking the culmination of months of hard work. Money to upgrade, test and repair all the lights was provided by the town council and Cllr Davies thanked all those who helped out. “One of the projects this year as Mayor I wanted to achieve, more so this year with the Covid pandemic, was to remove, test and replace where necessary our town Christmas lights.
That is the question the town council is asking Ceredigion County Council. The county council says it has no intention of buying the site at the time but Mayor Cllr Clive Davies told December’s meeting of the town council that it would be an ‘ideal site’ for such a use. “It’s at street level and would also benefit the disabled and traders,” said Cllr Davies. “That’s the suggestion and I wonder if they would consider the business case.” The town council is now awaiting a response from the county council’s estates department.
