Great Falls City Commission approves permit for aquatics center

View Comments Great Falls City Commissioners moved unanimously to approve the conditional use permit for the Aim High Big Sky aquatics and recreation center to be built in Lions Park during their meeting Tuesday night. The facility, designed by LPW Architecture and TD&H Engineering, is set to incorporate pools for both recreation and Malmstrom Air Force training, as well as a gym facility and indoor track. Construction drawings for the project are to be submitted in August so that it can be put out for bid and be shovel-ready by September, according to LPW principle architect Tim Peterson during his presentation. The team will have five years to complete construction, but Peterson said it would likely take less time.

Big Sky Indoor Aquatics & Recreation Center project moves forward Big Sky Indoor Aquatics & Recreation Center project moves forward By: Tom Wylie and last updated 2021-04-22 12:13:55-04 GREAT FALLS â During Tuesdayâs Great Falls City Commission meeting, the public received its best look yet at the proposed Aim High/Big Sky Indoor Aquatics & Recreation Center when the commission unanimously passed two resolutions clearing the way for construction to begin. The first resolution was for the approval of a conditional use permit for zoning purposes for the site at Lions Park, with an address of 900 29th Street South. The second resolution was to declare intent to vacate the rights-of-way surrounding the proposed facility which wouldnât affect any property owners or change traffic patterns.
