Decades ago, when Akron s rubber industry was in decline, a man who found inspiration in logistics helped Northeast Ohio’s polymer business boom, then set about spreading his wealth throughout the community.
Longtime Summit County businessman and philanthropist Philip H. Maynard, 78, died Monday. He was hospitalized recently with COVID-19 and pneumonia, following a longer bout with illness.
“Phil was the type of person who helped people to develop to their full potential,” said Nick Mihiylov, President of ASW Supply Chain Services. Mihiylov was one of Maynard’s original eight employees back in the mid-1980s, at Maynard’s first warehouse and distribution center on Gilchrist Road.
