Illinois State falls in MVC opener against Northern Iowa
CEDAR FALLS, IOWA (HOI) Illinois State (3-1) struggled down the stretch as it lost its first game of the season and its opener in the Missouri Valley Conference to Northern Iowa (4-4) 82-71. The Redbirds were able to trim the Panthers lead down to just four points midway through the fourth quarter, but wouldn t be able to get any closer.
Senior guard Juliunn Redmond scored 21 points (9-20 FG, 0-4 3PT) and grabbed 8 rebounds, but also had 7 turnovers. Redshirt freshman guard and Normal native Maya Wong had 15 points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3PT), 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. Junior guard Terrion Moore added in 12 points (5-10 FG) and 3 rebounds.
