Fair prices and a reliable outlet are what many farmers and ranchers desire.
For several decades, Prairieland Market in Salina has provided a place for farmers to sell directly to the consumer without having to have the consumer come to their farm. It lets us get our product out there to the consumers, said Zeke Vurra of ZK Hogs in McPherson. People can buy home-raised products without having to buy a half or a whole hog.
Prairieland is a mission-driven nonprofit that sells unprocessed products in its downtown store. From beans to coffee, the store tries to sell as many Kansas-raised and Kansas-made products as possible.
