KINGSTON, JAMAICA (AFP) – It’s been four decades since Bob Marley’s death, a period longer than the reggae icon’s brief but potent life that skin cancer ended when he was 36.
Yet Marley lives on as a voice of the dispossessed, the palpable vibrancy, spirit of protest and moral zeal of his songs including
One Love, Redemption Song and
I Shot The Sheriff enduring in a way few bodies of popular music have ever done.
His rich anthems of peace and struggle, hope and discontent, still reverberate globally and especially in his native Jamaica, a small nation whose rich culture its most famous son popularised on an international stage.

Bunny Wailer
In order to commemorate Bunny Wailer s 74th birthday, Wailers Ltd announced the planned release of the Soul Rebels 50 album that was recorded by The Wailers Trio Tribute Band.
The tribute band is actually a conceptual group of young artistes that had spontaneously come together as a celebration of the launch of a maquette of The Wailers Statue, sculpted by the renowned Paul Napier. Napier had sculpted a bust of Bunny Wailer for presentation at the IrieFM Lifetime Award event in February 2018. We are using this occasion to mark Bunny Wailer s birthday with this announcement because The Wailers is his true north, and this album will celebrate Bunny s burning passion, which has always revolved around The Wailers. The album Soul Rebels 50 reflects and is an outcome of his concern with the legacy of the group, and that drove and was incorporated into many of his creative decisions, entertainment consultant Maxine Stowe said.
