Chanel Muir leads the Lovelock Mile field on his way to victory at the 2020 Lovelock Classic athletics meeting in Timaru.
Chanel Muir is facing some strong opposition as he seeks to go back-to-back in the prestigious Lovelock Mile in Timaru on Saturday. The New Zealand junior 1500 metres champion was impressive in winning in 2020 in 4 minutes 15.15 seconds when just 17 years old but his repeat chances at the Lovelock Classic will be tested by the inclusion of fellow Cantabrian Tom Moulai in the 23-strong field. Moulai, 22, a NZ age group champion in 2015 and 2017 over 800m, has a fastest mile time just .61sec slower than Muir, set in Seattle in the US in February.
