A year after contracting the virus that left him fighting for his life in his US home, West Kerry man Maurice Brick is finally vaccinated against the possibility of a repeat serious illness from COVID.
And the 78-year-old, a native of Gorta Dubha, Baile an Fheirtéaraigh, is urging anyone with reservations over the vaccines to consider his cautionary story. Maurice was diagnosed with COVID on March 24, days after getting tested after developing a cough amid crippling lethargy.
His condition deteriorated rapidly, to the point where he started praying to his recently-deceased beloved wife, Mary Ellen, to take him with her.
