Hampshire Hospitals still setting C-section targets

THE trust which runs Winchester hospital still appears to be setting targets for caesarean sections, despite insisting that this is not the case.

Hospital said target for C-sections was an error

THE trust which runs Basingstoke hospital said an “error” was published in its meeting papers regarding caesarean sections after serious concerns were raised. As previously reported, figures from Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT) board of directors showed that more women have caesareans to deliver their baby at its hospitals than the national average. According to the report, it had failed to meet its target set against a ‘monthly goal’ for every month since February 2020. However, two weeks after the Gazette published an article on this, the trust has now released a statement to say the papers incorrectly referred to a ‘national benchmark’ for caesarean sections.

Andover Town Council changes decision on allotment YouTuber

Andover Town Council has relented on the “disgusting” decision to ban an allotment holder from making videos on his plot. The council had told Nick Turner-Howe that he wasn’t able to make videos for his YouTube channel due to concerns over how it would affect the data protection and privacy rights of other allotment holders, a decision he said “really annoyed” him. “I’ve been doing my videos for over a year now and this is the first time I’ve actually been told that I can’t do them. I don’t know why,” he said. However, the council has now backed down after ‘seeking clarity from the Information Commissioner’, a decision Nick said was “amazing”.
