A charitable organization that supports aging arts workers has reached a deal with Ottawa Community Housing that will see 80 units of a future development reserved for senior artists and others who toil in the cultural sector.
The BSO Now concert streaming platform â bso.org/now â launches the first of four archival programs Thursday at noon,
All four programs â featuring artists who enjoyed especially close relationships with the orchestra â were originally produced and distributed by Boston public broadcaster WGBH for the Evening at Symphony television series. Longtime WCRB announcer Brian McCreath will serve as host for these archival BSO NOW streams.
Thursday s opening program â originally recorded on April 26, 1975 â features Seiji Ozawa, who was just two years into his tenure as BSO music director (1973â2002), leading the BSO and New England Conservatory Chorus in Mahlerâs Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, with soprano soloist Susan Davenny Wyner and contralto soloist Maureen Forrester.
