When siblings Joanne Diggle ’82 and Maureen Azar ’85 were growing up, there was little doubt about the path their careers would follow.
“All of our father’s sisters were elementary school teachers, so my sister and I followed in their footsteps,” Diggle recalls.
Maureen Azar ’85 worked as the assistant recreation director in Central Falls for many years. In addition, she was a long time employee of Macy's Department Store. Maureen began her teaching career in 1985 as an elementary physical education teacher in her hometown of Central Falls. With a passion for her community and the children, she earned her administration degree and became a successful principal at Feinstein Elementary School in 2001. Shortly thereafter, she was appointed principal at Ella Risk Elementary School in 2008.
