In a fresh survey carried out by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), more than half of 1,268 small flats have been found to be locked and 222 under illegal occupation.
The city is set to see more registered street vendors as the Municipal Corporation has got an approval for 15 additional vending sites from the UT Chief Architect, Department of Urban Planning.
The CHB has issued a show-cause notice for cancellation of allotment of two residential units at Mauli Jagran for running liquor shop from the dwelling units.
With only 44 of nearly 2,500 defaulting registered vendors clearing their dues by the September 30 deadline, the Municipal Corporation has proposed suspension of vending licences of the rest.
