Updated: 4:55 PM EST Feb 4, 2021 A pedestrian was hit and killed Wednesday morning while crossing Mauldin Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash happened at 5:44 a.m. on Mauldin Road near Chalmers Road, troopers said. That is near the on-ramps for I-85 at Mauldin Road.Troopers said a 2013 Chrysler hit the person and the person died on the scene. The coroner has identified the victim as 67-year-old Steven Penton.
