Tyrone hurlers should be playing at a higher level, says McShane
February 19, 2021
New Tyrone senior hurling boss Michael McShane
New Tyrone hurling manager Michael McShane says he sees no reason why the county’s senior hurlers cannot be playing at a higher level.
McShane was appointed to a three-year term with the Red Hands last month, having steered Slaughtneil to an eighth successive Derry SHC title last September and also guided the club to three of the last four Ulster club crowns. The issues that were put out there by Damian and a few of the players are not big issues that can t be resolved,” stated McShane.
McShane, the current Slaughtneil Hurling Club Manager takes over from Mattie Lennon.
The Ballycastle native who has been appointed on a 3 year term, brings with him a wealth of experience having guided Slaughtneil to 3 out of the last 4 Ulster Senior Club Hurling titles.
Tyrone County Chairperson Michael Kerr said “We are very pleased to have one of Ulster’s Top Hurling Managers taking over the reins of our Tyrone Senior Hurlers and we all Wish him well”

Casey lambasts Tyrone board as hurlers enter 2021 managerless
January 08, 2021
Tyrone s Damian Casey and Niall Ring of Fingal
Tyrone hurling star Damian Casey says he and his team mates have “been let down” by the county board.
Inter-county training had been due to resume next week but, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the GAA has since confirmed that no collective training will be permitted until February 1 at the earliest.
Nonetheless, Casey, who has scored 6-169 for Tyrone in championship competitions since 2013, aired his frustrations at the fact that the Red Hands don’t have a senior hurling manager in place yet for the 2021 season.
