Guerlain Chicherit presented Bahrain Raid Xtreme with a brilliant comeback victory in the Dakar Rally Tuesday as rain and poor visibility cut short the third stage in Saudi Arabia.
Sainz, 60, seeking to add this year s edition to his wins in 2010, 2018 and 2020 collected his 42nd career stage win as he finished 23 seconds faster than fellow former world rally champion, Sebastien Loeb of France.
The stage win promoted the Qatari driver and co-driver Mathieu Baumel to second place, 2m12s behind Audi's Carlos Sainz in the overall classification.
