Rear Admiral Matthew T. Bell, Junior Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Command of the 17th Coast Guard District changed hands during a ceremony in Juneau Friday morning.
Rear Adm. Matthew T. Bell Jr. transferred command to Rear Adm. Nathan A. Moore.
Moore was previously assigned as the Coast Guard assistant commandant for engineering and logistics. As the Coast Guard’s chief engineer, he was responsible for all naval, aeronautical, civil, and industrial engineering and logistics for the service’s 23,000 facilities, 230 ships, 1,800 boats, and 200 aircraft. He was responsible for executing an annual budget of $1 billion, and leading 5,000 personnel assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Matthew T. Bell, Junior Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Admiral Matthew T. Bell, Junior, the commanding officer of the 17th Coast Guard District in Alaska retires following a change of command ceremony this coming Friday after 36 years of service.
He talks about his long service while a guest on Action Line Monday and his vision for the 17th District and its needs for the future.
He plans to retire on Kodiak where he did two stints of service.
His replacement will be Rear Admiral Nathan A. Moore who most recently serves as the Coast Guard s chief engineer stationed in the nation s capital.
