A WIGTON campaigner is delighted that the sister of the late Jo Cox would become the next MP for Batley and Spen after an incredibly contentious by-election in the constituency “I think Kim winning in the face of such an ugly and divisive campaign by certain candidates in the election is a wonderful tribute to her sister, Jo Cox. Former Labour Town Councillor for Workington, Matthew Suddart, went to help candidate Kim Leadbeater in her final week of campaigning. Telling of what it was like to be part of such an important by-election campaign and what he thinks about the win, Matthew said: “I’ve campaigned in many by-elections before, but this was one like no other. Getting to Batley you were immediately greeted by reams of campaign posters from a range of candidates. Everyone knew that there was a by-election going on.
