Southampton man died after cocaine and alcohol misuse

Pictured: General view of Winchester Coroners Court A SOUTHAMPTON man died after drinking and taking drugs. Robert Timothy McCarthy, 27, was pronounced dead at Clover Nook in Redbridge on October 1. An inquest opening heard that he had taken cocaine the previous day whilst drinking. A post mortem report by pathologist Dr Matthew Sommerlad states the preliminary cause of death as cocaine and alcohol misuse. Mr McCarthy lived in St James Road. Inquest: Chenkai Wan, 21, found at Southampton Crossings

Pictured: General view of Winchester Coroners Court A YOUNG man who was found unresponsive by a security officer at a Southampton student block died by hanging. An inquest has been opened into the death of Chenkai Wan, 21, who was reported deceased on March 28. Winchester Coroner s Court heard that security staff at Southampton Crossings, Cumberland Place entered Mr Wan s room after his friends and family became concerned. He was found unresponsive in the property on the 11th floor. A post mortem report by Dr Matthew Sommerlad states the preliminary cause of death as hanging. Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the full inquest to September 28, to be heard in Winchester.
