YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown State University s University Theatre will present the virtual performance “An Evening With Billy Shakes at 7:30 p.m. today.
A selection of scenes and monologues, created from the works of William Shakespeare, is directed by Matthew Mazuroski, associate professor in the Department of Visual & Dramatic Arts.
Scenes from As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Measure for Measure, Hamlet, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Romeo & Juliet, Twelfth Night, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Julius Caesar will be presented.
Shakespeare, cabaret and dance will be part of the spring University Theatre season at Youngstown State University.
Performances will be available virtually due to continued COVID-19 protocols.
The season opens with “Now You See Us … An Evening of Virtual Dance”at 7:30 p.m. March 25 and 26 and 2 and 7:30 p.m. March 27. Directed by Amy A. Wright, the dance concert features choreography by YSU Dance Program faculty.
Opening at 7:30 p.m. April 9 is “An Evening with Billy Shakes,” a selection of scenes and monologues curated from the work of William Shakespeare. It will be directed by Matthew Mazuroski and will showcase students’ versatility and breadth with selections spanning the comic to the tragic.
