WASHINGTON –
GOP Reps. Elise Stefanik and Chip Roy each gave fellow House Republicans their pitches Thursday to succeed Rep. Liz Cheney in their conference s third-ranking leadership position.
The House GOP conference will vote Friday morning on the leadership position.
Stefanik of New York highlighted a unified message of the conference leading into the 2022 midterms and how she flipped a Democratic district, while Roy of Texas noted he was legislatively more conservative, per several lawmakers in the room.
the clear frontrunner to lead the House GOP Conference as she was endorsed by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and former President Donald Trump.
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, is making her case to be
House Republican Conference Chair, promising a disciplined, unified message, after her
GOP colleagues ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from the position Wednesday. I strongly believe that one of the most important qualities in any leader is the commitment and ability to listen, Stefanik wrote in a letter to colleagues, formally announcing her candidacy.
She added that she has had hundreds of productive and informative conversations with Members from all corners of our Conference this week.
She criticized President Biden s policies made within his first 100 days in office as the most significant Far-Left Socialist dismantling of America by any President or Congress in our Nation’s history.
Perry Hooper: Elise Stefanik is the right choice to chair the Republican Conference
The Montgomery Advertiser 5/6/2021 Perry O. Hooper
In February, I authored a resolution that was adopted by the Alabama State Republican Executive Committee calling for the removal of Never Trumper Liz Cheney from her position as chair of the Republican Conference.
Unfortunately, she is still in her position of power.
With each passing day, it is becoming more and more apparent that Cheney does not represent the values of the Republican Party, but the values of the swamp. She now has Nancy Pelosi singing her praises. As the nation watched, Cheney gave Joe Biden an “atta boy” fist bump while he was on his way to deliver his speech outlining his plan to turn the United States into a socialist nightmare.
