The P.E.I. government tabled the largest capital budget in Island history in the legislature Wednesday, pledging to spend $308 million in the next fiscal year on roads, schools and new government-owned housing units.
P.E.I.'s housing minister put forward a bill to limit the allowable increase to housing rentals to zero per cent for next year. The province's rental regulator had previously announced it would allow increases of up to 10.8 per cent.
Charlottetown city council has unanimously voted to rescind its deferral on a decision to allow a provincial emergency shelter to open on Park Street, next to the old government garage.
