Lafayette Navy Veteran Joins Fight for Pride Month Proclamation

Members of Lafayette’s LGBTQ community, including a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, continue their calls for Mayor-President Josh Guillory to declare Pride Month in Lafayette.
Members of the Lafayette chapter of PFLAG and their allies spoke during the public comments portion of the Lafayette Parish Council meeting. PFLAG president Matthew Humphrey accused Guillory of playing politics instead of backing his constituents.

Feb 12, 2021 12:23 PM Daytona Beach, FL - A 26-year-old Daytona Beach man arrested in June 2020 pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possessing a firearm in furtherance of that offense in federal court today (February 12). Matthew Humphrey faces a minimum penalty of 5 years, and up to 40 years, in federal prison for the drug conspiracy and an additional 5 years’ imprisonment for possessing the firearm in furtherance of the conspiracy offense. Humphrey’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 27, 2021. Daytona Beach Police say Humphrey is the same person throwing money out of a vehicle to a large beachside crowd last May at an unsanctioned event beachside.
