Playing in one of the toughest fields in college golf, Razorback senior Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira leads the CABO Collegiate – presented by CFO4Life – after round one and Arkansas stands in seventh in the 15-team field.
Segundo Oliva Pinto shaved 10 strokes off his opening round, firing a 2-under-par 69, while Julian Perico posted a 1-under 70 to help #48 Arkansas jump two spots to fifth after round two at the 13th annual CABO Collegiate
Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira had his best scoring tournament – and the second-best in school history – to win the Hal Williams Collegiate by five strokes. Overall, Arkansas had three place among the top 15 – Julian Perico was T6 and Manuel Lozada was T15 – to lead the Razorbacks to a runner-up finish.
Arkansas opened the Hal Williams Collegiate with a season-best, 13-under-par round and sat in first place by two shots. The Razorbacks were 6-under in round two before play was suspended due to darkness.
The University of Arkansas men s golf team climbed from seventh place into a tie for fifth in Tuesday s final stroke-play round of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, but it wasn t enough for the Razorbacks to advance to today s match-play portion at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.
