The woman was on a red line train near Cleveland Park metro stop. It took police at least 30 minutes to catch up with her. Officers tell us she resisted arrest and complained she was hurt. She had been taken to the hospital. No one else was injured. We learned the woman was on some type of illegal substance. Reporter they do have the suspects car, which they hope will lead them to the person behind the wheel. And police say the driver made an abrupt maneuver to get off interstate 25, slamming into another car. He then took off on foot. On new years day, a vehicle was getting ready to enter the on ramp when police say the suspect vehicle made a sudden and illegal lane change. Attempting to make a last ditch effort to get on when the driver glided and pinned it against the guard rail. This exhibit is a tangible reminder of the federal governments relationship with sovereign tribal nations of this country. Its also a reminder of the moral and legal obligations that the United States has to honor and uphold our treaties with indian countries. The United States has 566 recognized tribes as sovereign entities with their own governments and their own laws. Sovereign is a key word, a treaty is formal, written agreements between sovereign states. And the constitution clearly states that a treaty

Delorea from phil the university of michigan and i am on the board of trustees. I want to welcome you to this session today. This is the final session in the symposium. The session speaks in part or of the exhibit which you shall see shortly which follows historical chronology, some case study examples, some for maddock analysis including some things that might resonate with the panel that we just had. The final section of the exhibit and this final session in our panel seeks to sum up and pull together, sort of congeal the insights of the exhibit and the day we have had today. Part of what we are about is reclaiming history. That, the easy part, is about making invisible stories visible. This is the task in native American History and has been for so long.
