By Ryan Young Apr 30, 2021 6:44 PM A man arrested in connection with the stabbing of a police officer on the Waywayseecappo First Nation, has appeared in court again. 22-year-old Matthew Benn previously pled guilty to Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, and was remanded in custody for sentencing on June 7th. The Manitoba First Nations Police officer was called to a business in May of 2019 on a report of a disturbance, and when he attempted to arrest a male, another male stabbed the officer multiple times. The 29-year-old police officer was treated in hospital for serious injuries, but was released soon after.
