Srinagar: Mysterious braid chopping incidents sparked protest at several places in Kashmir Valley on Saturday.
The female students of Government College for Women MA Road assembled in college premises and staged a protest against unabated braid chopping incidents.
Asking authorities to nab the culprits and expose these criminal elements, the protesting students raised slogans against braid cutting incidents. They alleged that police has miserably failed to nab the culprits and even those who are being captured by people are released after brief questioning.
Meanwhile in Chattabal area of Srinagar city intense clashes erupted after a braid chopping incident. The angry protesters hit to roads and pelted stones on government forces who responded with tear-smoke shelling. The clashes disrupted normal life there while shopkeepers downed their shutters.
Jammu & Kashmir: Flash-floods claim 91 lives in three days
Srinagar: The death toll across Jammu and Kashmir from the past three days touched to 91 as on Friday three more persons including a woman lost their lives due to flood furry. At least 14 persons were trapped while four of them died when a landslide hit Thanamandi town in Rajouri district of Jammu province on Friday, Four persons One person died in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district when he came under an electric poll, uprooted due to flash floods. Another person died of heart attacking after he observed gushing waters making entry into his village in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Two people drowned when strong water currents washed away a bridge at Brazlu in Kulgam district. Three people were washed away when they were crossing Nallah Sukhnag in Khansahab area of Budgam district.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir reported 1937 fresh covid-19 cases while 19 people succumbed to the virus, the highest so far this year, officials said on Friday.
They said 846 of the cases were confirmed from Jammu Division and 1091 from Kashmir in the last 24 hours, taking the total case tally to 156344.
Regarding the fresh fatalities, the officials told GNS that 13 victims belonged to Jammu Division and six were from Kashmir valley. With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 2111 796 in Jammu and 1315 in Kashmir.
Providing district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 501 cases, Baramulla 118, Budgam 156, Pulwama 55, Kupwara 59, Anantnag 75, Bandipora 14, Ganderbal 40, Kulgam 61, Shopian 12, Jammu 525, Udhampur 72, Rajouri 45, Doda 13, Kathua 33, Samba 25, Kishtwar 3, Poonch 30, Ramban 22 and Reasi 78.
