Today, Gimma Craig Nootchtai of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Chief Larry Roque of Wahnapitae First Nation, Chief Chad Boissoneau of Mattagami First Nation and Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, on behalf of the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services, highlighted community-led solutions undertaken to prepare, prevent and respond to COVID-19 in these communities.

Framework aimed at enhancing city s relations with First Nation communities

City council received an update on the Indigenous Engagement Framework during Tuesday’s meeting. Dave Landers, the city’s chief administrative officer, outlined some of the latest developments, while making a presentation to accompany the written 2020 Report Back on Progress. Try refreshing your browser. “In 2019, council approved a draft Indigenous Engagement Framework,” he said. “Direction was provided at that point in time to turn the document into a report and also to report back activities.” Landers noted the administrative report provides that update on those activities. “I will just hit a couple of the highlights,” he said.
