RIT, Salisbury to Meet in NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Title Game

RIT never trailed in the final 27 minutes, but Tufts’ potent offense left the door open for a comeback. The Jumbos didn’t go down easily, but RIT still prevailed 18-16 to punch its ticket to the NCAA championship game. The Tigers face Salisbury for the national title next Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. Tied at 9 at the half, neither side could assert itself. Jumbos led 9-5 after Bryce Adam found Mac Bredahl with 7:38 before the break, but RIT closed the half with a four-goal run that saw two scores each from Quinn Commandant and Dawson Tait.

RIT, Salisbury Dig Out of Early Deficits En Route to NCAA Title Game Berths

After an intense weekend of Quarter and Semifinal rounds, the National Championship is set. RIT will take on Salisbury in East Hartford, Conn. The sprint to make it through the weekend is a tall task, but with those early rounds in the background, all effort shifts to focus forward on preparing to bring home the hardware. Stay tuned through out the week for plenty of of preview coverage as you head in to your Memorial Day Weekend. The Tigers showed resilience in their effort to come back from an early deficit. This was among the intense games of the 2021 season and the atmosphere matched that intensity as a packed crowd roared on goals, turnovers and spit venom at the officiating.

Men's DIII Second Round: The Quarterfinals Are Set

The Field of 16 as officially been reduced to eight, and the action will resume next weekend with quarterfinal and semifinal rounds once again back to back on Saturday and Sunday.  The eight remaining teams are Colorado College, Christopher Newport, Lynchburg, York, Tufts, Salisbury, Illinois Wesleyan and RIT. These teams will meet in the Elite Eight at host sites RIT and Salisbury for what will be four fantastic games and set the table for the Division III national championship.

Attack Mac Bredahl missed 11 games his freshman season and played just four games last year, but he has immense potential with Tufts. Cross Ferrara was a force in seven games last season, scoring 26 goals with six assists. Ronan Jacoby scored 10 goals in Wesleyan s 3-1 start to 2020. Midfield Ryan Barnable shot 32 percent on his way to eight goals and seven assists. Ty Kostack filled the box score for Cabrini, notching 18 points, 10 assists, eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. Matt Treiber only played three games in 2020, but he scored seven goals for the Jumbos. Specialists Brett Malamphy stepped his game up in 2020, winning 96 of 125 faceoffs (76.8 percent).
