SALISBURY, Md. – A Congressional candidate paid a visit to downtown Salisbury Tuesday to meet with local business owners and elected officials. “I’m here today to do a Main Street tour with some of my friends and supporters, other local elected officials, like Salisbury City Council member Michele Gregory, Wicomico County Council man Bill McCain, and others to have a dialogue with business owners on the Main Street about ways their congressional representative can better serve them,” said Heather Mizeur.
Heather Mizeur is running on the Democratic ticket for Maryland’s first congressional district. She took a tour of downtown Salisbury with local elected officials. A second candidate has thrown her hat in the ring against Representative Andy Harris, after he made waves in his attempt to bring a gun onto the house floor.
Heather Mizeur is no stranger to the political fray, having served in the Maryland house of delegates and having run for governor in 2014.
She joins Matt Talley in the Democratic primary race, as she too was inspired to run after the Harris incident.
Mizeur has a farm in Chester and promotes the Eastern Shore as one of the chief focuses of her campaign, remarking that transportation and finding healthcare providers in some rural parts can be a challenge.

After Congressman Andy Harris brought a gun into the capitol, one musical artist and small business owner in his district became inspired to run against him.
Matt Talley, born and raised in the district, feels that Harris is beatable after the incident. Describing his difficult situation during the pandemic, he feels congress needs an on the ground, non establishment candidate to lead them.
Talley himself has been one paycheck away from going hungry during the pandemic. He advocates for legalized marijuana, medicare for all and strengthening representation to the Eastern shore- calling it “the forgotten” part of the district. He spoke with 47ABC giving his opinion on the Harris situation.
