Mississippi is among two states to experience a population decrease, according to new 2020 U.S. Census Bureau data.
The data revealed that Mississippi now has a total of 2,961,279 million people, which is 6,000 fewer than the 2,967,297 million that was reported in the 2010 Census.
West Virginia saw a dip in population with 1,793,716 million people, which is a near 59,000 decrease from the 1,852,994 population recorded over a decade ago. Illinois did, too, losing about 18,000 residents, or .1%, and going from 12,830,632 to 12,812,508.
