Tigers Make it Four Straight against ETSU and The Citadel

CLEMSON, S.C. –  The Clemson men’s tennis team (4-0) defeated the ETSU Bucs (0-3) and The Citadel (1-5) on Saturday at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility to extend their winning streak to four. The day was highlighted by the first career win at line 1 for Matt Pitts and a doubles win from brothers M. Pitts and Tim Pitts.  Jorge Plans Gonzalez and Max Smith got the Tigers off to a great start to the Tiger’s doubleheader, defeating ETSU’s pair of Lombisano/Britez, 6-3. The Bucs were able to secure a win on Court 2, but a clutch 6-4 win on Court 3 from M. Pitts and Trey Stinchcomb gave the Tigers the doubles point.  The momentum continued for the Tigers as every player took the first set win, as Plans Gonzalez took his first set in a grueling tie break, 7-4. Tigers Sweep Duckworth Classic Doubleheader

CLEMSON, S.C. –  The Clemson men’s tennis team opened the 2023 season strong, taking down Furman and Wofford in commanding fashion. The Tigers swept Furman 7-0 and handled business against the Terriers, winning the match by a score of 6-1.  The day was highlighted by several doubles victories and the first dual match wins for Nini Dica, who was 2-0 in singles play in his first matches returning from injury. “It was a great day for the team and to start off the season with two dominating wins,” said Head Coach Robbie Weiss. “The boys brought good energy and focus to both matches and competed well throughout the day.  I am happy for Nini Dica to get his first two wins as a Clemson Tiger after sitting out the past two seasons with two ACL tears.  He has worked so hard to get back on court and we’re super excited to see him healthy.  Really proud of the team and excited to get back to work next week and prepare for a tough ETSU team next Saturday.” The Tigers started hot

Tigers Dominate Penn State to Close Out Liberty Hidden Dual

LYNCHBURG, Va. –  The Clemson men’s tennis team dominated on the final day of the Liberty Hidden Dual, picking up three doubles wins and four singles wins against Penn State. Coke (Jorge Plans Gonzalez) and Matt had a fantastic weekend of tennis, said Head Coach Robbie Weiss. They made some big strides with their games and mental toughness. I'm super proud of them. The weekend revealed some positives but also some areas we must continue to improve on. It was nice to get a bunch of wins today against Penn State and finish up the weekend on a positive note. As always, can’t wait to get back to Clemson and get to work.
