(Courtesy photos) Back in the Day: Paperboys, papergirls of the past share memories The days of newsboys who would yell “Extra! Extra! Read all about it!” as they hawked the printed news of the day on street corners is something I’ve only seen in movies. By my day, the method that most people received their daily newspapers was by direct delivery to their homes from paperboys. My oldest brother Orvis delivered the Virginian-Pilot when we lived on the East Coast as kids and while the Daily Republic in its heyday was much bigger in physical size and volume than today’s version, it was no match for the heft of Norfolk’s newspaper.
