i feel that matt has to respond to that. i m here. yes. i m listening to you, matt. i heard your take. i heard it. you have to defend that. you can t give the president of the benefit of the doubt on everything. you don t know what he meant to do when he made that manner iism. please. if it were your kid or your wife you would probably change party stripes over it. but you re going to give the benefit of the doubt. and this comedian has gone way too far. come on. i asked alisyn if she would walk out with he me. i made a decisions, my wife and i together, that i want was too much. that s your choice. we got up and left. we weren t sitting at the front table. we didn t make a rubbing us. we simply got up and left. it was a personal decision. i m fine with that good for you. if there are americans who feel hurt by what they say, and it s inappropriate, i don t think that s a good thing either. i don t think it s good to attack people like this.
you guys do a splendid job of making the case against when the president is over the line all the time. 4 and you invite me on, which i appreciate. but what about when the white house press corp is over the line. they weren t the ones telling the jokes. you call it out. all morning we have been talking about it. why is it hypocrisy for me also to say waous you re not as upset when the president of the united states says on a regular basis and he s not joking. if you are so offended by jokes you think failed, it is everybody s right where is it there, matt? because you feel donald trump is over the line, right? he is over the line. and you know it, matt.
hold on on. the president didn t say putting journalists in jail may help stop the leaks? did he say it or no? i don t know. you know he d. see, that s what i m saying matt. you play with the selective curiosity seu. let me just answer the question. do i think journalists should go to jail who are reporting leaks? no. do i think people in government should go to jail if they break the law? yes. if the president journalists should go to jail, i would disagree with him. he did say that. you didn t say you disagree with the comedian. i do. you said i had to walk out. it s terrible. it shows america this and shows america that. but you don t feel that about trump. that s why the needle doesn t move. the reason the base isn t growing is because of what you re saying right now. you are not open to anything that you don t agree with. then why am i on the show?
like they feel like there is a desire to get trump. you don t like trump. you re trying to hold trump down. you re not holding because people like you are telling them that, matt, a lot your little cpac event. it s not little. it s actually pretty big. you said the media hates you. are you outraged by that, matt? i felt like at that dinner not the dinner. with when the president said are you going to let me answer? no, i m not. oh, that s great. when the president said the media hates you, how did you feel about that? as a conservative, i feel like there is a dominant piece of the media that hates our point of view on issues. i do. mocked abortion, the room laughed. listen, i wasn t there, but it sounded like that one did not go over well. there were groans too. you work in the media.
signature. enough you ignore them all. that is not true. when you come on this show, you would be outraged that check those boxes that used to make you sick is. chris, i did your show for two years. you asked me all these questions in the campaign. and you are assuming my answers are different than what they were. the fact is this. it is very much standing up for the values. he s done more to do those in a generation. and i have to stand up and try to help him get that done. i believe in what he s trying to do. i understand that you think personally you find him morally reprehensible. a lot of us don t find that. you are pointing words in our mouth to feed a narrative. but we have to go. we have other people to talk for. thank you for the matt marathon. we appreciate you coming on on and thanks for having me on. thank you for being here. okay. chris? my lord.
