This week, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled in favor of first responders struggling with PTSD like France. As a sergeant with the Gila County Sheriff s Office, France responded to a call in June of 2017. A man was threatening suicide. France and his partner approached the house. After clearing the perimeter, they moved in. That s when the suspect came barreling down the stairs armed with a shotgun pointed straight at the officers. France begged for him to drop the gun. The suspect didn t so France and his partner fired.
