A man was killed when police opened fire during a clash with fishermen in Meghna river of Matlab North upazila of Chandpur.
The clash occurred around 12:15am when river police was conducting a regular drive against catching jatka.
Bullet-hit Masud Hossain (22) hailing from Munshiganj Kalichar succumbed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, reports a correspondent from Chandpur.
Mohonpur River Police In-Charge Mohammad Hossain was also injured when the fishermen hurled brick chips targeting the law enforcers. He received primary treatment.
