Polling is being held for 57 constituencies spread across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, including Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third consecutive term in the Lok Sabha.

Incidents of threats, assault, and false voting were reported, with candidates alleging intimidation of party workers and supporters in places like Diamond Harbour and Kolkata Dakshin. TMC dismissed the accusations, claiming the CPI(M) was making excuses due to lack of representation in the state assembly or outgoing Lok Sabha.
