Workington students show off maths skills in competition

Students of a Workington secondary school competed in a maths challenge event that featured teams from across the North West of the county. St Joseph’s Catholic High School hosted the Math’s Feast for Cumbria North on Tuesday March 30 with 15 teams of students taking part. The challenge for year 10 students was designed to be both fun and educational, testing problem solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to work as a team. Teams of four each took on a feast of mathematical challenges. Jenny Gatley, Director of Maths at St Josephs and an AMSP Associate said: “They have altered the set-up for Maths feasts this year in the light of the changing situation we find ourselves in and it is all done online.”
