They do seem to have become more liberal in the 60s and 70s the new left and particularly as feminists entered the universities in the 70s. It drifts to the left but its been a broadly liberal institution for a long time. Being exposed to other professions was very important. My mom taught me about the dignity of work. We didnt make much but she did teach me that we should be proud that we are working. Pay, weght home enough were never lacking food, our clothing was in fancy but we always left the house looking like a million bucks even though clothesse word werent.
