The National Science Foundation recently awarded a $750,000 grant to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The award will be used to develop culturally appropriate food literacy programming for the Arkansas Delta, according to a news release.

EL DORADO, AR MATH CONTEST- When you think of extracurricular activities at school, you probably think of things like football, basketball, or marching band, but there are other school events that may not get as much attention but are equally important. One such event taking place in Eldorado, Arkansas this Saturday is the 9th Annual Martha E. Deichler / Union County Math Contest which will bring hundreds of students together to compete using their math skills. We have about 250 students signe dup from about seven different schools in the county, explained John Davis, Math Chair for El Dorado School District. The tests go from sixth grade all the way up to Calculus BC which would be about ten subject areas.
