Reporting on Gender with an Intersectional Lens . What does it mean to report on gender-related topics with an awareness of race, class, and other intersections? How can people of all genders and backgrounds investigate matters that pertain to both their identities as well as identities other than their own? Where would you find ideas for focusing on gender-related topics, and how can you pitch those stories to a range of media outlets?
Tasneem Raja, an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, will moderate a virtual conversation on Friday, March 4, with journalists Natalie Alcoba, Lawrence Andrea, Ashley Okwuosa, and Kate Sosin to dig into these issues.
The conversation is co-organized by the Pulitzer Center and the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, along with Women in Media. UC Berkeley is a Campus Consortium partner.

Hi, All. I am easing back in after placing Twitter in Time Out for a minute. All News All The Time, was included in that mini-vacay. I happily admit that I do not have a clue as to what the hell is going on in politics or in the politics of Twitter, either, SMH. We still don’t have an edit button.
I think the heat of the summer is beginning to simmer. I want to take a moment
to breathe in some of that wonderful goodness by sharing about a beautiful story I saw highlighted in a “People” exclusive for a Mother’s Day Special on Face Book Watch’s “Red Table Talk”.

This programme will support four journalists every quarter with a stipend to cover a maternal health story or introduce solutions journalism to their newsrooms. You may apply as a reporter or as an editor.
While it is not a requirement, journalists who intend to apply for the reporting grants are encouraged to attend a Maternal Figures webinar on using the database and reporting on maternal health from a solutions journalism perspective.
