CHEER is a program helping local residents address health and safety barriers in their homes in order to facilitate energy efficiency improvements and improve access to lower cost renewable energy, according to a press release. The HeatSmart program helps residents explore ways to improve how they heat and cool their homes by using efficient, electric heat pump systems.
Together, the programs provide information and resources, including educational events, home energy assessments, and connections with energy and remediation experts, as well as local heat pump installers, the news release said.

Plan continues current service levels and meets financial obligations for existing contractual agreements.
Grand Rapids City Manager Mark Washington recently presented the first of several planned reports on the fiscal year 2022 preliminary fiscal plan to the city commission.
The proposed $546 million spending plan continues current service levels and meets financial obligations for existing contractual agreements, which is something that many municipalities across the country have not been able to do due to the pandemic.
The recommended “continuation” budget also aids in pandemic response and local economic recovery. The general operating fund portion of the proposed budget is just shy of $156 million 29% of the total budget.

The Greenwich High School sophomore and Seaside Center volunteer, who lost his battle with cancer in 2019, planned a career working on climate change mitigation. He saw as his life’s mission the urgent need to spread awareness of the risks caused by global warning, and to seek solutions to address the impact that climate change is having on both a global and local level.
Luke contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation about installing a climate change education exhibit at the Bruce Museum Seaside Center. He wanted the exhibit to focus on sea-level rise, the impacts on Long Island Sound marine life, and most important, to inform people on what actions they can take to halt global warming.

Ten years ago, I made the decision to not completely turn The Remnant over to the Internet. I knew the newsprint model had become an expensive dinosaur, but I could not help being wary of Greeks or, in this case, GEEKS bearing gifts.
What could possibly go wrong?
Ten years later, with the Big Tech gestapo shutting down or gagging so many Internet based magazines like ours, I’m rather glad we declined this generous offer.
