5 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Thunder Bay area
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced five new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the district on Monday.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) announced five new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the district on Monday.
Two of the new cases are due to close contact, one is no known exposure, and the other two are part of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at Southbridge Roseview.

COVID-19 has found its way into the Matawa Education and Care Centre on Lilly Street.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports six people associated with the facility have tested positive for the coronavirus.
As a result an outbreak has been declared.
The health unit says “Action was already taken to stop any ongoing spread of the virus in the centre.”
It adds that anyone who may be considered a close contact of someone with the virus has already been contacted by a public health nurse.

The care home announced on its webiste that a thirteenth resident has died.
Currently 13 residents are still testing positive for the virus, while 14 staff are isolating at home with COVID-19.
The city also has outbreaks at the Matawa Education and Care Centre, with at least six active cases; Southbridge Pinewood care home with two staff members testing positive, and Pioneer Ridge care home with one staff member infected.

THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Matawa Education and Care Centre after at least six people tested positive.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit said it s believed the infection was likely acquired in the facility, the former city-owned Grandview Lodge.
The health unit says it continues to maintain a heightened level of vigilance to identify and support anyone who might have the virus, which will continue until the risk period is over.
