Police Spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie has disclosed that five people have been charged in connection with the Basse magistrate court cannabis theft case. He says the three charged accused persons were judicial officers. “Very well, they have been charged, like for example, one has been charged with removal of exhibit, another one has been charged with aiding and abetting, and conspiracy charges equally have been leveled on the others and as well even breaking and stealing,” Mr. Njie told Freedom Newspaper in a phone interview on Sunday.

Three judicial workers at the Basse magistrates court have been detained by the Basse police after been accused of conspiring with thieves to steal cannabis (marijuana exhibits) that were kept at the Cadi’s Scribe office, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Police sources said the burglary incident happened on Thursday night.
Accounts Clerk Matarr Kah, Scribe Madi Touray and Registrar George Camara are currently helping the Basse police in their investigations. They were arrested together with two thieves. The thieves who were caught at Basse Kabakama, had broken into the Scribe’s office at the Cadi court and stole the cannabis exhibits that were kept at Madi Touray’s office.
