Over the weekend, the epic Anglo-Ndebele war, fought 130 years ago, was commemorated in tribute to the numerous Ndebele men who lost their lives while resisting.
Among those brought to Britain were six members of the Bambuti tribe, who came from their homeland in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo to perform at London s Hippodrome.
Peter Lobengula (pictured left with fellow miners in 1901) was the 25-year-old grandson of the King of Matabele, whose forces were defeated in battle in what is now Zimbabwe in the 1890s.
