unfortunately washington s really missing the big problem which is the amount of leverage these firms have. this will not head off another crisis. mat kind of money are these guys getting? something like $135 billion. other worldly pay. it always has been on wall street. so, if these restrictions don t go far enough and you say, small step in the right direction, small being the operative word, you know, what can taxpayer expect to be the impact from this? does this mean there s not going to be another bailout of banks? hopefully this will, in fact, get executives to make longer-term decisions. but the real problem is that the firms are still able to bet $30 to $40 for every dollar that they have. and when you take that much risk and that much leverage you can have the same sort of thing that blew up the system in the first place. unfortunately the banking lobbies defeated the idea that you have to really restrict the amounts the banks can borrow and bet. and unfortunately that h
