Originally opened by owners of the Ferncroft Country Club, ownership changed hands in 1978 when Bay State Investors Corporation bought the golf course, the Tower and the then almost-finished Ferncroft Inn. It opened as the Ferncroft Inn under the Radisson name later that year.
