In Saratoga Springs, Michael and Stacie Arpey have donated $1 million, allowing the Franklin Community Center to expand its services into the Massie Center building on Washington Street. The community center provides social services, a food pantry, after-school prevention program, affordable housing and other services to children and adults in the city. Located on the city’s West Side, the center was running out of room for its programs. With covid, demand for its services is even higher than normal this year, and the community center was already working on expanding on its current site when it got the opportunity to purchase the Massie Center. With the donation from the Arpeys, the center can now expand into the 10,000-square-foot center without having to wait to raise the additional money needed for the purchase.
