STILLWATER Once AJ Ferrari got his opponent’s leg wrapped up, it took nearly 15 seconds to execute the takedown, but that was all Ferrari needed.
An Oklahoma State true freshman, Ferrari rode out the final minute-and-a-half for a 4-1 decision over Oklahoma’s Jake Woodley that sealed the Cowboys’ team victory in the Bedlam dual, 24-16 on Sunday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Ferrari, ranked No. 12, and Woodley, ranked 15th, battled for points, but each managed only a single escape point until early in the third period.
That’s when Ferrari grabbed Woodley’s ankle. Fighting for control and the takedown points, Ferrari finally got them with 90 seconds left in the match, and he maintained top position the rest

In the first dual of the Little Rock Quad triple-header, men’s wrestling initially had the wind at its back after the team dominated Little Rock by a score of 27-9. The Cardinal’s fortunes took a sudden turn against South Dakota State, losing 23-15. Early momentum in their final dual against Oklahoma also turned sour as the Sooners closed out the team’s weekend with a 21-12 defeat.

As you might recall. Last weekend UNI came to Ames to wrestle Missouri, but not Iowa State. Well this weekend Iowa State goes to Cedar Falls to wrestle Oklahoma, but not UNI. Like strangers in the night, the teams keep passing close to each other without ever actually crossing paths.
Despite the weird circumstances, Iowa State will have a job to do in Cedar Falls on Sunday. They’re coming off a 7-31 whooping by Missouri a week ago and need to use this meet against Oklahoma to prove that last weekend was just a combination of mat rust and young guys seeing their first varsity D1 action.
Arizona State tops Oklahoma 1/8/2021 NORMAN, Okla. The No. 11 Sun Devil wrestling team earned its first road win in nine years over No. 20 Oklahoma, 20-12, at McCasland Field House Friday night. Senior Kordell Norfleet (197) ultimately sealed the dual for ASU (2-0) in the ninth bout after an impressive two tie-breaker period decision victory over No. 13 Jake Woodley. I thought overall the team wrestled well, they were prepared and I m proud of these guys, assistant coach Lee Pritts said. This was a great test by a talented and well coached Oklahoma team. Looking ahead it s going to get tougher so we have to continue to climb, continue to elevate, continue to fight.
