New york. Today im launching a participatory budgeting Pilot Program to give residents the power to decide how to use this discretionary funding. My office will be partnering with the controllers office, and the right to the City Alliance to implement a four month process to engage residents, neighborhood groups and other Community Stakeholders in dialogue and to vote on proposed projects. Im interested in bringing participatory budgeting to San Francisco because increased civic participation will help make our city allow our city to make better investments in our neighborhoods and empower residents to get involved in our democratic process. The italian heritage parade and the home giants game and castro street fair all in the same weekend and we dont anticipate near those kind of crowds this time, but we have a sustained effort from july through middle of september. So fewer crowds, less of a logistical problem on one given weekend, but we need to be able to sustain that effort over time and have the staff and resources . We have also been able to put a number of key pieces of infrastructure into place, including the jefferson realm from johns to hyde, where we really made major improvements to the streetscape there and i hope you find those much more pedestrian and disabilityfriendly in that neighborhood. Were nearing completion of the fort mason marina green path, the bike and pedestrian path, which has not been wellstriped and had a lot of obstructions in the path that have been removed. And it was a source of some of the complaints that we heard last year and there werent that many, but we heard of bicyclists and whee
