To further the partnership between businesses, government and industry, the Ehlanzeni Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Mashishing Campus, hosted a business and networking breakfast on Monday June 14.
The keynote speaker for the morning was the newly elected Speaker of the provincial legislature, Makhosazane Christine Masilela. “As it is Youth Month, we should enhance opportunities for young people to gain practical advice and learn valuable business skills. We need programmes like this to create an environment for the young people to gain an in-depth, hands-on learning experience to aid in the development of their businesses,” said Masilela.

Residents and business owners joined hands to clean the areas in front of their properties before the Easter weekend.

We Love Lydenburg group, the P.R.I.D.E. initiative and the Lydenburg/Mashishing Business Chamber took to the streets on Wednesday March 31. They concentrated on Viljoen, Church and Voortrekker streets. A challenge was also forwarded to the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality to fix the potholes and signs on these roads before the long weekend. This project is based on the Sabie P.R.I.D.E. project initiated in August 2011. P.R.I.D.E stands for “picking up our rubbish, restoring our beauty, investing in our future, doing it together and enjoying the results”. Some businesses donated black bags, their time and employees, who worked in the hot sun the whole day to give tourists a better impression of the town.
